Jordan District Residents For House Bill 292
House Bill 292 will shift a projected $15.4million back to Jordan District from the Canyons District. This bill will equalize the funding between Jordan School District and the Canyons School District at “pre-district split” levels. This bill is trying to bring the amount spent per student back to the $1600.00 dollar figure as the floor for both districts. The projected $15.4million that would be shifted back to the Jordan District would cut our deficit by half and would make a difference on the cuts and changes that need to be made.
A group of parents are organizing to first help this bill be heard and then help this bill be passed. We need YOU! Please do the following: Email the Education Committee TODAY and all weekend. Then, email the Education Committee on Tuesday, February 23rd in the morning asking for House Bill 292 to be heard. Next Email the Education Committee on Wednesday, February 24th in the morning, asking for House Bill 292 to be passed. Go to Bingham High School on Wednesday, February 24th at 4pm (or as soon as you can get there) to do an informal picket to help encourage our legislatures to pass House Bill 292. Please come with your own signs that are family friendly and encourage House Bill 292 to be passed.
If the bill is heard before Wednesday the demonstrations will be cancelled. Watch the news and check the facebook page to see if it has passed.(Facebook page: Jordan District For House Bill 292)

Thanks for posting this Michelle. I was going to call you today because I saw your post the other day. I knew you might know more about what was being planned. Nik came home today and told me what he'd heard and asked me to go to the meetings, I just didn't know when and where. Do you know if there is a Legislature meeting on Tuesday evening that we can attend. I should get on the FB page and get more details. Again, thanks for posting. I think it's worth putting on the DB Moms site as well.
Isn't it great. You wanted new houses, you got new schools, now how do you get someone else to pay for it. Residents of the Canyons District already pay 59 percent of the debt load of all the new schools that cover the west side while our kids go to schools that are more than 40 years old and lack air conditioning. Have the integrity to fund your own school system.
Dear rbb...you voted for the split....we didn't ....did you really think it would be that easy? and isn't a child a child? shouldn't all kids get equal funding?
