I have worked SO much these last two weeks....it's insane! I have worked more in the last 2 weeks than I have in the last 4 months total...I am not kidding. I have worked EVERY shift that they have called and asked me to work....they are short staffed now up at the hospital because respiratory season has hit about a month and a half later than usual....and it is here w/a vengence.....and, it was rough the last few months w/no paycheck....so I vowed to work as much as I could when the shifts become available...and boy have I! I haven't put my kids to bed much this week or last...Juice has really stepped in and played Mr. Mom.....he even assisted in Kai's book report that was pretty intense....they had to create a board game...and I was so worried that I wouldn't be there to help him get it going...but much to my surprise, I came home tonight and it was alllll done and sooo cute! Complete w/directions, playing cards, playing pieces, board etc....good job boys!
Anyway, the kids at the hospital are very sick....lots of RSV, pneumonia, asthma exacerbations etc....sick sick kids....glad I am able to have such a rewarding job......I never ever ever leave work not feeling grateful for my health and my families' health. I have seen life take a drastic change in a matter of minutes.....
If you are ever at a crossroads and want to go back to school.....go to nursing school! You will never regret it. I know it has been slow lately...but I have been there since 1997 and it has NEVER been this slow...so this is unique....
Miss my kids and husband when i'm at work...but love talking to adults, taking care of those sweet kids, and using my skills that I worked hard for....oh and like making money too :)

I would love to hear what the signs of RSV and other respiratory infections are. Avery appears to have a cold and I have taken this child to the doctor a billion times already (SO many problems with this kid) and hate to take him in again unless I really need to. Are there specific things to look for that you could tell me about?
I am glad that the census is finally picking up. It seems like it is always just a matter of time. I would definitely agree, you will always have a job being a nurse!
