Top baby names

I have never been one to name my kids a name in the top 10....nothing against those names, but after working on the pediatric unit you see allllll the most popular names.....I think on any given shift I have taken care of at least one Jackson and one Olivia and one Emma........
Chloe's name was pushing it.....it was #45 when we named her that...and now it has crept into the top 10! yikes!!  Anyway....I thought it was interesting how fast names move up the list!  I know Kai has crept up too....not sure what number.
I think I will take a look at the top boys names and try to avoid those.....

The latest Top 10 names for baby girls, based on 2008 statistics:

Emma
Isabella
Emily
Madison
Ava
Olivia
Sophia
Abigail
Elizabeth
Chloe

The Top 10 names for baby boys:

Jacob
Michael
Ethan
Joshua
Daniel
Alexander
Anthony
William
Christopher
Matthew

note: don't want to offend anyone if these are your kids names....my husband comes up with EXTREME names...and I have normal name pics..and we have to meet in the middle.....also, Michelle was in the top 10 the year I was born!! Not sure I would want a TOOOO creative name though....somewhere in the middle is good for me.

I know TONS of Lily's now. When I had Lily, it wasnt very common, but now I see so many 3 ish year olds with the name Lily! ERGH!! My Jackson was only named that because I didnt want a Jake Jr! And Jack was close to Jake!! I HOPE I dont have the trendy issue with Porter or AMELIE! I dont think I will see tons of Amelie's around!!

yes, Lily is popular....but that is Juice's grandmothers' name and if this baby were a girl, her middle name was going to be Lily....I don't know another Amelie, nor a Porter...well, except your Dr. Porter that you have a huge crush on!

Do me a favor and tell Juice you think you should name him Brighton? ;) He tried everything to get us to not name our boy that because of one rotten kid at his school.... he had us cracking up but we're determined to prove that Brighton can be sweet adorable kids too, not just trouble makers!

I'm with you....I like stuff where they'll be the only one in their class, but it doesn't sound like we made it up.

ha! Melissa...I LOVE the name Brighton...love it! I'll bring it up tonight :) That's funny though...see how hard it is for me? every name I say he says there's a bad kid at his school w/that name...grrrrr.

I was a nanny for 6 BOYS, and because of those spoiled little snots I can never ever use the names Tyler, Max, Zack, Collin or Davis. Those boys were MONSTERS! hahaha
I do have a crush on Dr. Porter, I just adore him. You would think you would feel of EW EW EW seeing a man that has seen the worst of you, but I just love seeing that doctor. TOTAL SWEET HEART! he is even my facebook friend hahahahhahaa

I didn 't realize Jaxon was so popular....but oh well! I don't know many Brynn's and I've heard some Jordan's, but not a ton.

I totally understand Juice's problems with names. I taught for a while and when I was thinking of names there were a lot of names I couldn't use because kids I taught had ruined them :)

Kendra. I don't know any Jaxons spelled how you spell it. That's unique! Never known a Brynn ... Jordan is more popular, but I think it was more popular a few years ago. And, not on the top 10 like Chloe Grrrr:). I remember you also liked Landon. I vote for that if you ever have more boys :)

You know, Ashley is actually a masculine name... ever read "Gone With the Wind?" And I wouldn't even be offended... ;)

I hope that class party went well today. Your son said it was fun- he caught me right as I was backing out of my driveway.

Once again, super polite. How do you do it?

I HATE that Olivia is so common now. One of the main reasons I chose her name was because it was not even a little bit common. I hadn't heard of anyone who had named their kid Olivia before, then as soon as she was born people started stealing my name! Very, very rude! I still ADORE the name, though, and that's what matters most. Good luck!
