YES!

So today I got the best Christmas present. 
When we finished our basement, it was a huge expense because we were finishing 2800 sq. ft...so like another home....2 bathrooms, a kitchen area, great room, 3 bedrooms and a playroom.......we had to take out a second mortgage for it...and unfortunately interest was almost 9%....well, since last April we have been trying to modify that loan...and I can hardly explain how much of a pain it has been...documents lost....re-applying, getting denied, applying again, approved...then oops, they are missing the W2...or a pay stub....blah blah blah.....it has gone on forever and we had given up hope....each time we called, which was almost weekly we had to re-explain everything to a new person....etc......
well, today we got the documents in the mail and our loan was finally modified from 9% interest to 2% interest for the LIFE of the loan...which cuts our payment more than in half.....I am over the moon excited....and happy to have the documents in my hand......we soooo many times wanted to give up and say forget it...but paying that much interest was just crazy.....and there are so many programs out there.....
The 2nd mortgage programs are very different than the 1st mortgage...and they say they are "easier" to modify........
so, if you are trying...don't give up....really.  It has been 8 months.  The programs are out there....so start digging....and if you are denied....try again the next month....
