Sloooooooowwwwwwww down.....

tomorrow is the last day of school for the boys....I have mixed feelings....
I am very happy that they are going to get a long Summer break this year because they are now on a traditional school schedule, so bye bye to little 4 week Summers!

However....I also hope they don't kill each other.

My children are not angels.
They are very good at bugging each other...fighting over who sits on what spot on the couch..who holds the remote...who holds the hose when playing in the water...etc......
but I am going to think positively....
and hope for a great Summer.

We have had a very, very busy Spring....and actually the entire year has been busy...with the boys stepping up to more time involved sports and Chloe picking up gymnastics etc....
oh, and being pregnant for 9 months
and having a baby
via c/section....
anyway...

I am proud to say that the
ONLY
organized activity that we have planned alllll Summer is
Chloe's gymnastics which is once a week.
We will of course find things to do...go on some vacations etc...but
no
planned
sports.
no practices
no games
nothing.
and I cannot wait to just hang out with my kids
playing in the hose
wasting lots of water.
sitting on the porch
eating cheap
otter pops.
and watching and listening to my kids play...and play...
and play....
and fight a little....
fight a little more.....
then make up....and
play again.
we'll mostly be taking advantage of our HOA
amenities...
and be at the pool...
but if we don't want to one day...and want to just go to the library...
then we will.
no plans.
oh...and my husband is off the entire month of July....
so I may even get to take a nap or two!

woot woot!!!
I can't wait.
so, if you want to hang out...
don't make a plan with me...
just show up
and if we're here...
we are....
if not...
we'll catch you another day.
when we're not...
browsing Petco....
eating dinner at SnoShak...
or roasting s'mores in the backyard.

i encourage everyone to slow down.
and just 'wing it'
this Summer.
we are.

My kids have 3 weeks left, but then we're going traditional next year. So, this will be our first "real" summer, too. I'm scared.

I LOVE this! I can be so wrapped up in a schedule, but this week I forgo/postpone responsibility and play in the sprinklers. Or last night, we let the kids stay up WAY too late to watch the lightening bugs while our campfire dwindled after roasted marshmallows. It was perfect!

Thank Goodness! Someone with sanity! What I loved most about "summertime" when we were all growing up was the fact that we didn't have a "schedule"! We had one of those for 9 months and it felt like being freed for a while...waking up and knowing I can do pretty much whatever I want today! What a feeling that was! Sure we had a few things that had to be done, but for the most part it was watching some cartoons, eating cereal, get dressed and head outside and find our friends to ride bikes or whatever! (Or nothing at all!) We make up games all the time too...The Madsen's were notorious for having "play's" in the backyard or starting up major baseball games, foursquare, rollerskating, and a zillion other things. Good for you Michelle. I wish I could just hang out for a summer and "breathe"!
