the bride

the groom
the story:
the story:Ok..this is a little embarrassing....but oh well.....as many of you may already know...my sweet daughter Chloe LOVES her binkie....LOVES LOVES!!! She (at age 4) still used it when she went to bed, or got really sleepy......
well, enough is enough....and one day the boys told Chloe "Clo, if you put your binkie under your pillow, the binkie fairy comes and takes your binkie...and then the next day you get to go to Target and pick out any 2 Barbies you want!" she thought about this for a minute.....and then put it under her pillow......
the boys snuck in her room during the night and got it.....we hid it far far away! Then when she woke up at first she was so proud of herself.....and then the tears came.......oh, she was sooo sooo sad that her binkie was gone.
I almost gave in and got it for her....it was so sad to see her sooo upset.....but then the boys woke up....and distracted her.....and we are now on day 5 of no more binkies!!!! She hasn't seen it since...and is doing great...
she was pretty sad the first 2 nights....but now doesn't even ask about it....
it is wonderful!
This was something I was dreading doing forever...as you can tell.....none of my kids have ever had a binkie this long...it was ridiculous!!
she still has her favorite "cozy" and I assured here there is NO COZY FAIRY!! So she is happy with that....she is proud of herself....and actually said last night at the campout when she saw a toddler w/a binkie "mom, don't you think he's kind of old for a binkie?" ha!! Love that girl!!!!
oh, and if you were wondering...she picked the bride and groom Barbie...

That is awesome! What a great idea!!
My mom and dad's dog LOVES to chew up binkies. That was our great escape to Brendan's bink was "Gabbie ate your binkie" and it never was an issue after that. I'm sure Gabbie will have to eat Addison's when the time comes. Not that the dog hasn't already eaten 5 of hers already. No joke.
Any hints on how to get a 4-year old to stop sucking her thumb? We've got it down to only when she falls asleep, but I catch her sucking her thumb in the middle of the night. I wish I could hide it under the pillow and whisk it away!
I love that your boys were the ones who told her all about this...way to go boys! I bet it made it at least a little easier for you!
