strep. again.

well, Chloe just earned herself a spot in the OR to get her tonsils out.....probably June (after preschool is out..and when I get up the guts to do it..and the patience....it is NOT a fun recovery...at all.....this is kind of being put off for selfish reasons on my part :) She is on her 3rd case of strep throat in 3 mos....the evening of her birthday party w/her friends she was on the couch w/a fever...and I was SURE it was strep......she was fine the whole party...and I was just sick thinking she has just exposed alllll the little kids at her party to strep....so, I sent emails to all the mom's.....ugh. Took her to Kids Care.....after ONE fever (Chloe has febrile seizures, so I don't mess around w/fevers around here..plus we are going out of town). Here is how the trip to Kids Care went....



I went to kids care and said "I am pretty sure my daughter has strep again"

and the dr. said "uh, I am pretty sure it's a cold...esp. since she has a cough....there are a LOT of viruses going around right now...so, just wait and see"
then i said "no, I am sure...she ALWAYS looks like this when she has strep"
he said "well, I will swab her, but I am positive it's a cold...but i'll do it just for your peace of mind"
I said "ok, thanks"


we wait for the results....




then he comes in and says "well, it's positive...but I don't think she has it that bad"
uh, how do you determine how bad it is? does the rapid strep test come back "positive...but not too bad"
seriously.
I just smiled and grabbed the script from him.....and he said, "well, usually the fever goes on for a while before parents bring their kids to us"

and I said "why wait for days of fevers when I knew it was strep and we are going on vacation Tuesday...I needed her better"

and then I left....

I was kind of grumpy...

but it had been a long day....



then I immediately got two doses in that night and two the next day before the family bday party...so that she wouldn't be contagious.....and she ran around happy as can be all night......my boys both got their tonsils out and had TONS of strep...I KNOW when they have strep...it is the SAME each time...and neither of the boys have had strep since they got their tonsils out.....


sometimes dr's can be such dorks.
