but.
I am no longer doing laundry. For one week. No collecting, washing, sorting, drying, folding and putting away....no searching for football shirts, uniforms or dance clothes to insure they are clean for the day they are needed.
I am not sure who will do the laundry. My guess is my husband. I do have to say he is great at doing laundry when he does it.
why? you ask...am I on strike? because it is never ending....and I am done. Kids wear things for 2.2 seconds and it in in the laundry room...husband cleans out his closet and an instant pile of laundry is on the floor in the laundry room....kids throw their clothes in there when they DON'T FIT and they simply don't want to do anything else with it.....kids that can't wear something more than once, even if it's perfectly clean....pj's for every night of the week.....aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
so. I announced at dinner tonight that I am done doing laundry for a week. noone seemed to care. i am probably just making it worse, because when I am off strike next Monday, the load will be insane.....or, everyone will chip in and help out.
Tonight I heard my husband in there teaching Kai about how to sort clothes.....yes!!
anyway....I feel liberated.....now if I could only find something to do with ALL the spare time I will have! Ha! j/k...you and I know there is no spare time.....just dreaming.
ok, i'm off to do all the other things on my list......

Holy Crap. That is all I have to say. Holy Crap... I should totally do this...
Take a stand Michelle!! I hope you're right that they'll pick up the slack and take on the responsibility. We mothers need a break!
ps Chloe is priceless!
Amen sista! The PJ's thing got me. Brendan can't seem to wear the same one twice. I actually only do laundry once a week. If it's dirty- wear something else, but chances are it is still clean after just wearing it 2.2 seconds.
Let me know how that goes!
if I did this, Jake would just wear dirty clothes.... the kids would figure something out. Jake is TERRIBLE at doing the laundry. I have a rule, if I wash, he puts away. I will find LIly's clothes in the boys room, the boys clothes in my drawers... its a joke. BUt Jake does wash a mean dish. he is my dishwasher
Funny I read this right now becuase today is my laundry day and I am waiting for the clothes to get dry to throw another load in...I came downstairs and was thinking to myself, it never ends does it? There's always going to be laundry to do...ugh! I should do what you are doing, but I don't think it would get me too far with as young as my kiddos are :) Good luck, I hope it works out for you!
My mom went on a complete strike for one week when I was too little to remember anything more than she went on strike. However, my oldest sister who ended up picking up the slack remembers it very well and said it was very effective! Best of luck. I hate laundry!!!!!
so, a little update....my eldest son folded a basket of laundry tonight WITHOUT being asked....they also put their pj's under their pillow and wore them again tonight! who would have thunk! My husband has done 2 loads of laundry tonight and carried the baskets downstairs to fold while he watched ESPN....
so far so good....no, they are not all angels, but so far they are chipping in....or it could be that my husband is paying them....hmmmm..
Michelle, I wish I lived closer. I love to do laundry (love to fold it, too). Sounds sick, doesn't it? But I always like to catch Karen's up when I'm down there, try to do Scott's Saturday laundry. Back in the "olden" days I sincerely loved folding all the diapers. Bet you didn't know that about Aunt Betty!
Ah, laundry.....Only on Mondays and only if THEY have brought it to the laundry room. I don't do dishes!
You're my hero! I wish I could do this... and I wish someone would pick up the slack if I did! lol Laundry is my worst enemy.
