our cat has reached his lifetime maximum in health care....per my husband.
Two weeks ago our cat got in a fight (we think), got hurt really bad, could hardly walk...but appeared to be getting better....I didn't take him to the vet, thinking I could cure him at home....well, he got an abcess on his back from where he was bit and he was getting pretty sick....
well, the quote over the phone was $100 to drain the abcess etc....however it turned out to be $340 ugh. They forgot to tell us that he MAY need to be sedated in order to do this....oh, and the "Elizabethian Collar" that they put around their neck to keep them from picking at their stitches, was $20....I am not kidding. Oh, and he kept that on for about an hour.
So here is a picture of him....he has a drain coming out of his back...it is gross.....the kids are freaked out....but he feels a ton better now, you can tell! As I type this, the drain is now removed, and a few more days til I remove his stitches.......
seriously. pets are expensive. Juice made it clear to me that this cat has "hit his lifetime maximum of medical expenses"....and that's nothing compared to what some pets need....sheesh! Poor kitty :(

That is seriously disgusting! You guys are too nice....I would have just told the vet to put him down! :)-
One of our dogs got Cherry Eye this summer and had to have surgery to correct it. After surgery I had to give him pain meds for a week, he wasn't healing very well, the meds made him happy so they gave him more at the end of the week. First day with the refill and I left the bottle on the coffee table, we left and when we came home the whole bottle of pain meds was empty. Both dogs had eaten 2 weeks of priscription strength pain meds ..etc....stomatch pumped...x2...meds counter the pain killers..........ya, I don't think Phil will be paying out too soon either!
I should not have looked at that before lunch!! Poor CAT!
I totally agree! This may sound cruel, but our dog had a vet emergency just after the baby was born and before my husband took the dog in, he set a "maximum allowable" expense he'd pay and if it was over that amount, he was going to ask the vet to put her down. There's a pit in my stomach when we have to shell out big bucks for our dog's vet bill and when there are so many other things that seem to need those bucks more. While it's fun for my husband and kids to have a pet, I'm wondering if we might take a break from pets after this one!
Love Chiara's honesty hahahaha I would have done the same, hahahahha
