in shock.....

that there are parents out there that are keeping their children home from school so that they don't hear the President of the United States speak to their children on staying in school and working hard? are you kidding me? wow....I don't know what to say .....this is truly amazing. I honestly have nothing good to say about President Bush...but I do know that he was our President, and I would NEVER EVER talk down about our President in front of my children. And would absolutely send my kids to school to hear what he had to say....what do you tell your children when they ask why they have to stay home? do you not understand what that message is telling your children? The biggest thing that parents' do to mess up their children, is force their bias' on their children. Let them grow and develop their own opinions.....really! It's a wonderful gift that you can give to your children.

And what parent wouldn't want their child to hear a speech from their President about staying in school etc.? If it were a celebrity or sports figure, I bet you would let them go...so so sad.

AMEN!!!!! Have you read all the crazy comments on KSL about the story they posted about that? It's insane! My sister-in-law who is teaching high school has to send home consent forms with every student she has if she plans on showing it! SO LAME! What has our country come to? I'm glad to know that my good friends don't seem to be among those depriving their children!

Michelle, as a mother, and and American, I would INSIST that Lily watch the message. Sadly, Julie Thomas said that ELA does not have internet connection yet, and no TVs for the class rooms yet. So Lily will be watching it at home later in the day. I may have not voted for Obama, but I mean come in....... telling your child YOU CAN NOT WATCH THAT MAN SPEAK TO YOU, is seriously STUPID! He IS the president of the US. He is a father of school age children..... I am not scared that my child would be brain washed or misled by listening to HER president. Totally pathetic for parents to FREAK out like they are doing. Parental consent to listen to the president? seriously, a total joke. If Obama came to Utah to address the people, I would take my children. Its a once in a lifetime opportunity!
