The 3rd graders did the cutest thing....they each drew a profession out of a hat...Kai got Pilot....and depending on what they were, they were assigned a salary...they then had to go through many stations (had to hit all of them) and purchase necessities.....like a house, furniture, food, clothing etc...then they had to deposit some in the bank into a savings acct...and they had a chance table too, where they had to take a risk with some money....most kids lost money on chance, but some actually won some....I got to volunteer for the day and it was so much fun.....
we searched for a pilot uniform or hat....found one from a neighbor...and when Kai saw it, it wasn't what he invisioned...I think he was thinkin Delta airlines pilot hat...but he got WWII...which I thought was really cool....well, the morning of school came and he wasn't sure he was going to wear it....I also got a scarf for him to wear.....he thought kids would laugh at him with that kind of pilot hat, but it turned out that the people that ran the program loved it and he won the award for best costume :) he was thrilled...and I was glad he took a risk and did something a little different....
I had a fun day hanging out with Kai and the other 3rd graders......the district filmed the activity and will use it to promote the district...I guess they do this at all elementary schools in the 3rd grade...here's a few pics.
