Our Family's First Stitches....

Well, I was on call yesterday and we had been hanging around out in the yard and decided to go to the park...so tried out a new park in Daybreak, over in Eastlake that has a little skate park area....we didnt' bring skateboards, since we weren't planning on going there....BUT a neighbor was there and let Kai borrow his skateboard, so the FIRST time Kai hops on it on his belly and goes down a TINY little hill, the skateboard goes out from under him and he smacked his chin on the concrete....sending teeth thru the lip....ugh......there was TONS of blood and we freaked all the little kids a the park out....went home, cleaned it up.....everyone said they never do anything for lips, but I was sure this didn't look right...so took him to Kids Care and he got 7 stitches....I guess (beware this is gross) the fat in his lip was coming out and they had to push it back in and stitch it up, otherwise he would have a divet in his lip........I was trying to get the dr. to inject the fat into my lips ;) but she didn't think that was funny.

Kai was soooooo super brave, didn't have to have any medicine to make him hold still! Just his mom's hand :) And he insisted on going to school today....what a trooper! This is our first set of stitches.......prettty good for almost 9 years of being a mom and 3 kids, right?

The crazy thing is right before it happened I looked at the other mom and said "this is an accident waiting to happen" ugh....next time, go with your gut!

I'll post a picture later when he gets home from school....if I can get a good one.....it was a little too crazy at the time to take one...sorry :)

It put a smile on my face imagining you talking to the Dr. about putting the fat in your lips. Too funny. Nik's first stitches were at about 6 or 7. Kowhai's were at 3. They both had a broken arm under the age of 2. My poor kids. They don't get much sympathy from me. Hope Kai has a good day at school!

Poor Kai. I can't help but picture him going on that little hill and laughing. We went to that park and Danny loved it. He kept going on that half circle coming out of the ground and sliding down it.
