interview....

well, had my interview today, she called me when I got home and told me that I got the job...if I wanted it...but here's the dilemma....it is a Labor and Delivery job...which is different than what I have been doing for almost 10yrs....so it would require lots of training....to be exact...I would have to train with a preceptor for 36hrs a week....that's 3 12 hr. shifts a week....for 8-9 weeks. Then they want me to put in at least 20hrs a week every week...and work most all holidays...ugh. I just can't do it....it is really hard because I really want to do something new, and just walking through the new unit, I just got this excitement of trying something new....and scrubbing in on the c sections would be a lot of fun also....but I just can't work that many hrs....if I had to do it for the money, then I would have to just do it and find child care etc...but with Juice's new VP job, he is gone a lot of random evenings.....and that would make me work all day Sat and Sunday...then one 12 during the week...and have to have someone get my kids off to school etc...

I was really hoping the hrs. would be more flexible and not so many...but it is what it is, and maybe some other time in my life, when my kids are older, I can try something new....but for now I am staying where I am....I love my schedule, pay, flexibility etc...and LOVE the people I work with....

I am glad I went to the interview....I hadn't interviewed in years and years.....and I did have a good feeling about the place, so I know it's something that I want to do in the future......but not now....anyway, that's my story.

Oh, something funny that happened today....the "microwave fixer guy" FINALLY showed up, pushed a button on the microwave and said "yup! it's broken!" UGH! DUH! I about laughed my #@! off....unbelievable...so there was no "fixing" going on.....he says we probably need a whole new unit (which by the way is fine because we paid for the 2-10 warranty, which I HIGHLY recommend....it is good for ANYTHING in your house...fridge etc....that may go wrong...you only pay $50 deductible)...anyway, he said he will get back to me...and walked out...it was the biggest waste of my sitting around EVER! I could have done what he did over the phone?! so, looks like it will still be a while before it's fixed....lame....you don't realize how much you use it until it's broken!

I commend you for your decision to stay where you're at. An opportunity like that would be so hard to walk away from. You do a great job keeping things in balance. Especially working in Labor and Delivery. If I was a nurse that would be such a huge temptation. I'd love to go through that experience with moms. Good for you!!

I didn't know you were prego! How fun!! Congrats!

Yes, I try to be a nice cousin every once in a while....but I need to get my butt back up to her house and keep going...there is so much to do and the poor dear is 8 months pregnant...even though the brat only looks like she is 4 months along! Anyhow - I'd love to come check out your weeds, but your yard always looks fabulous and my husband would kill me if I moved onto someone else's yard instead of doing my own!! :)-

How long have you been without a microwave? I seriously don't think we would last for more than a day or two! Congrats on getting the new job, at least you know you're qualified to do it, even if right now isn't the best time...it does sound like fun though. When I've had my babies, I always thought it would be fun to be a nurse, but I don't think I could do it! You're amazing!

Good call. I don't know where the hospital is but likely closer to home and that is always nice but if you have the chance to spend more time at home while the kids are young, I HIGHLY recommend it. There will always be opportunities for such changes down the road. You'll never again have this time with your kids.
