Well, I spent the day at a conference on Crucial Conversations....this was taught based on the findings in the book Crucial Conversations ....I do have to say I thought this all day class would absolutely kill me to stay awake in...but I was really surprised at how much I liked it and how much I learned...... http://www.crucialconversations.com/
The book looks great and I hope to read it.....the focus on the class was teaching you skills on how to have important conversations with everyone....family, friends, spouses, children, neighbors etc....getting out what you want to say, but don't know how to say it....giving you tools on how to respond to different personalities of people, and I learned a lot about why people act a certain way........it is just really helpful for everyday life....it was mandatory for the nursing staff to attend this, but I really enjoyed it...and encourage everyone to read the book or attend a class.....it can help you in all of your relationships...

Good idea. I find myself misunderstood frequently AND I find people don't typically ask me - they go around talking to others about what they think I said/meant/did, etc. and I never even know it's happening. We could all benefit from such training and doing more direct communication too.
I love a good book and this one looks like a good one for me. Sometimes I say nothing, so as not to offend. I have a wicked sense of humor that's not always appreciated!!
